Kansans Live Well Program

Kansans Live Well is a collaborative citizen science program launched in summer 2025. Based on the successful Know Your Well program at the Nebraska Water Center, our program is designed to complement the program goals of AWQUA by providing educational resources and training for secondary schools across Kansas. Participants receive lesson plans focused on the topic of water quality. Activities can be completed during or outside of class time. Additionally, a KGS staff member will visit the school to provide a hands-on demonstration of how to measure water quality at or around students' own homes.

FAQs
Interested teachers or secondary schools in Kansas are eligible to participate in the program at no cost to them.
We know that the demands on a teacher's time can make planning new activities difficult. Our programming is designed with flexibility in mind so that many elements can be assigned out of class time as needed. The minimum request for in-class time is one 90-minute class session or two 40-minute class periods; both include time for a KGS water-sampling demonstration.
Our programming works well for a variety of science classes:
- Earth Science
- Environmental Science
- Chemistry
- Biology
- Agricultural Science
- Any other topics relevant to water quality
